Today was a big travelling day... being Sunday we used this day to travel.... We travelled over to Kentucky crossing the ( ,now I will probably get this wrong ) the Ohio river.... suntrast as we had been mainly travelling through country area's to suddenly be on this bridge looking at sky scrapers. The first big building I noticed was one that said KFC convention centre .... hmm why would KFC have there name up there...... then hmm why have they got a big picture of Colonel Sanders on the side of the buil
ding... then I said the acronym out loud "Kentucky Fried Chicken" .... of course LOL..... it was really interesting driving through the city... just didn't have the camera ready quick enough to catch everything I wanted.
Besides a quick comfort stop our first real stop was at Grand Rivers ..... A town that lies between 2 rivers whose names escape me right now... Once again a little town with lots of nik naking crafty type shops... I love American primitive and the first little shop we visited was exactly that.... so many things I would have loved to have bought but none really suiting the house we are in now... and you can only fit so much into the sewing room.....
The main purpose of our visit there was to have lunch at Patti's .... another restuarant come gift store decorated very much in country american.... Their biggest decorations were silk flowers.. absolutely everywhere and miles of them... we just looked at them and said who dusts those..... But beautiful little touches... like the Jars that they served your bottomless soft drinks in and the pewter plates they served your meals in.... the potted bread served with whipped butter and whipped strawberry butter. Here we were lucky enough to meet friends of Sharons, Irene and Bobby who brought along a couple of award winning quilts to show off....
From here it was a short half hour drive into Paducah. Once settled into our hotel there was a bit of trunk sale of quilt tops in Sharons room..... more to buy!!! and if that was not enough there was late night visit to Walmart
where I saw a few new suitcases making their way back onto the bus.... thank god Howard and Bobby are so patient with us....
Speaking of Bobby I have to mention that we are priviledge to have him as our driver as he has driven around some pretty famous people in the past... I will let my picture speak a million words...
